Numerous garlic products are on the market and can be found in health food stores, drug stores and grocery stores. Each garlic manufacturer claims that their products are the best quality and provide the maximum health benefits. However, garlic products are not so simple as most garlic manufacturers say. As educated consumers, you should know the truth about garlic. If you are choosing a garlic supplement because it claims to have a high allicin content and/or allicin potential, you are being misled. Recent studies showed that no garlic supplement can deliver significant amounts of allicin, regardless of its claims, and that allicin is not the key principle in garlic (see Kyolic Information Volume 1). In addition, allicin does not play a key role in garlic's benefits when ingested internally.
